After Care Advice

You have just experienced a deeply relaxing and uplifting massage. As a result of the massage you may experience one or two of the following reactions.

  • Tiredness
  • Uplift
  • Thirst
  • Cold
  • Aches and pains
  • Red blotches on your skin
  • Frequent urination
  • Headaches

These reactions are nothing to worry about. Your body has been stimulated and relaxed and it is adjusting to this by ridding itself of toxins and working on any problem areas that have been treated.

At Home

After your massage it is recommended that to help with the relaxation and detoxification process you practice as many of the following points as possible:

Before you leave ensure that you are wide-awake - if you have to drive home wind the window down a bit to keep you alert.

Try to rest as much as possible directly after your massage. Your muscles may be sore. Take a warm relaxing bath or shower, wrap up warm and put your feet up.

Drink as much water as possible, especially after the massage you will find this helps with muscle soreness and headaches. This will help flush out any toxins floating around much quicker. 8 glasses a day is recommended for healthy functioning of cells, improving skin texture and digestion.

Avoid stimulants such as tea, coffee and alcohol. Try a herbal tea, hot water with a slice of lemon, fruit juice or red bush tea instead.

Eat light meals of vegetables or salads over the next 24-48 hours and try to avoid over refined, processed and spicy foods.

Try to exercise at least three times a week to keep muscles flexible and joints supple. Gentle walking or swimming is a good idea.

If you are a smoker, cut down, as this restricts blood flow throughout the body and accelerates the ageing process by decreasing oxygen intake from the blood supply. Better still give up altogether.

If you have been advised of any stretching exercises try to ensure that you make time to do them as these will aid faster recovery and prevent further injury.
